Biography

A four-year standout at linebacker for the Tiger football team from 1969-72, Carl Perkins '73 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1991.

Perkins was a first team All-Mason-Dixon Conference selection in 1970 and ’71. One of the team’s tri-captains in 1972, he was also named first team all-state as a sophomore and junior. He was one of the captains for Coach Phil Albert’s first Towson team. In addition he was an honorable mention all-state and all-conference pick. After graduating from Towson, he served as an assistant football coach for five years.

He was also the head football coach at Howard County’s Centennial High School for one year and coached lacrosse at Centennial for more than 10 years. A member of the secondary school physical education evaluation team, Perkins has also been a member of the Howard County Physical Education advisory board. He has participated in the NASA Teacher in Space program as well as been a volunteer diver at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Perkins was also an advisor for the “Cultural Awareness” and Black Student Achievement programs.
