Biography

Coach Carl Runk’s first team captain and an All-American, Jim Saxon '68 was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 1983.

He was a four-year letter winner in both lacrosse and soccer. One of the Tigers’ leading scorers in lacrosse, he captained the Tigers to an 8-6 record in Runk’s first year as head coach. A third team Little All-American selection at midfield, Saxon played for three lacrosse coaches in his four-year career at Towson.

A native of Glen Burnie, Md., he also played fullback on the soccer team and was a dedicated member of the “Circle K” Kiwanis Club.

He graduated with a degree in business administration in 1968. He served overseas during the Vietnam War and was killed. He is remembered by the Jim Saxon scholarship, awarded annually to a Tiger junior lacrosse player.
