A four-year performer for Towson Lacrosse, Joe Ardolino '73 was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1992.
He served the program as an athlete, coach, administrator and assistant athletic director. A native of Deer Park, N.Y., he was the co-captain of the Tiger lacrosse team in 1973, helping Towson post a 10-5 record and reach the semifinals of the USILA College Division playoffs. He led the team in assists as a junior with 24 and was among the Tigers’ top scorers each season.
As a senior he was an All-Mason-Dixon Conference attackman who had 14 goals and 18 assists. In addition he was the winner of the Towson “Unsung Hero” award in 1973.
Upon graduating, he became an assistant coach for the Tiger lacrosse team and helped Coach Carl Runk lead the Tigers to the 1974 USILA College Division championship and a 14-1 record. In 1978 he left Towson to become the head lacrosse coach at Salisbury University. In one season at Salisbury, he led the Sea Gulls to a berth in the NCAA playoffs.
He returned to his alma mater in 1979 as the associate lacrosse coach and assistant athletic director. In 1985, he resigned from coaching duties to concentrate on his expanding assistant athletic director duties. In that role, he was responsible for facility operations, home games administration and fundraising functions.
He played a key role in the development and direction of the Towson Lacrosse Alumni Association and served as a visiting instructor for the Towson University Physical Education department.
