Biography

2008-09 SEASON: His 32 starts were a team high for 2008-09 and tied a school record for most starts in a single season ... did not dress in the season's home finale against Delaware due to a sprained knee he suffered against Morgan State ... he would not have started that game anyway as the Tigers started all five seniors per the custom in the regular season home finale ... tallied 20 points in his first game in a Towson uniform in the victory over Navy ... scored a career high 24 points in the win over Hampton when he also grabbed 9 rebounds ... averaged a team best 12.4 ppg in the first 6 games, then tailed off ... returned to form to average 12.9 points and 7.1 rebounds ... recorded his second career double-double that included 20 points and a career matching 11 rebounds at N.C. State ... finished the year as Towson's 3rd leading scorer (9.8) and rebounder (4.5) ... exploded at home against Georgia State when he sparked the Tigers to their 82-72 overtime win with a team high 18 points, all in the second half ... didn't attempt a shot in that game until there was 9:32 left in regulation ... led the Tigers against Morgan State with 21 points ... Towson was 8-7 when he scored in double figures ... averaged double figures throughout the regular season ... didn't dip below 10.0 until after the CAA tourney (just 14 points in the 3 games).

2007-08 SEASON: Jarrel transferred from Colorado State and sat out the 2007-08 season per the NCAA transfer rule.

AT BIRMINGHAM H.S.: Played two years at that California high school after transferring in from Oregon ... a two-time first team All-LA City Section choice ... averaged 24.5 points per game in his junior year and 26.0 points and 11.0 rebounds in his senior year ... coached by Andre McCarter, the starting point guard at UCLA on John Wooden's final national championship team in 1975 ... Jarrel and his older brother, Jimmy, have played together on the same teams at Birmingham, Colorado State and now Towson.
