Biography
2022-23: Named to the CAA Academic Honor Roll… appeared in just three games before missing the rest of the season due to a back injury… scored 11 points against Penn on November 13, going 4-7 from the floor and 2-3 from three with three assists… had an eight-point performance against Massachusetts and seven points against UAlbany during the season.
2021-22: One of Towson's primary three-point threats, helping the Tigers win the CAA regular season title and earn a berth into the NIT... played in 30 games with 20 starts, finishing in the top-7 in the CAA in each three-point at 42.9% (3rd) and three-point field goals per game at 2.2 (7th)... averaged 9.8 points per game, earned 14 double digit scoring games and 10 games with at least three three-point field goals... matched a Towson single game record with eight three-point field goals twice, against Coppin State (12/11, 8-for-13) and against Hofstra (1/11, 8-for-12), finishing with career-high 24 and 26 points respectively in those games... CAA Player of the Week on Dec. 13, aided by 19 points at #21 Ohio State (12/8)... scored 22 points on 6-for-11 from three-point range in win at William & Mary... season-high five assists, adding eight points, in win at James Madison (2/26)... perfect 4-for-4 from three point range for 12 points in NIT game at Wake Forest (3/16)... member of the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
2020-21: One of Towson's primary guards, playing in 16 games with 12 starts...averaged 9,6 points and 1.8 assists per game, finishing with 154 points and 28 assists... second on the team with 24 three-point field goals and 28 assists... seven double digit scoring games, including four in a row in league play from 1/16-1/23... career-high 23 points, going 8-for-8 from the free throw line and 6-for-11 on field goals, at James Madison (1/27), following with 22 points, including six three-point field goals, vs. William & Mary (1/30)... scored 14 points vs. Northeastern (2/13)... free year of eligibility due to COVID-19 pandemic.
2019-20: Started Towson’s final 19 games … Was named to the All-CAA Rookie Team … Named CAA Rookie Of The Week on Jan. 27 … Averaged 8.4 points, 2.1 assists and 0.7 steals per game … Scored in double figures 10 times … Opened his career by scoring in double digits in his first three games against George Washington (11 points), Bryn Athyn (12) and Kent State (18) … Scored a career best 21 points in a road win at William & Mary on Jan. 25 … Was third on the team with 45 made 3-pointers … Was one of three Towson players with at least 45 3-pointers … Made a career best four 3-pointers in a home loss to the College of Charleston … Led Towson with 17 3-pointers in Towson’s 9 CAA road games this season … Was 59-for-66 from the foul line (89.4 percent) … Had a career best five rebounds along with nine points in a road win at James Madison … Dished a career best six assists in a win over UNCW … Had five assists in wins over Hofstra and Bryn Athyn … Towson was featured on SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays following the Elon game on Sat. Feb. 20 thanks to Gibson’s no-look over the shoulder save to Brian Fobbs, who dunked. The clip, which went viral, was play No. 4. … Helped Towson win 19 games, finish third in the CAA with 12 conference victories and win seven consecutive conference contests for the first time in program history … In addition the 7-1 month of January was the second best month in program history behind the 1990-91 squad that went 8-1 … Towson finished 15th nationally in free throw percentage (77.1) and 33rd in rebounding margin (+5.5) … This was the sixth consecutive year in which Towson led the CAA in rebounding margin.
Prior To Towson: Finished his high school career with 1,502 points … Helped Sidwell Friends win its first DCSAA (District of Columbia State Athletic Association) Class AA championship … Was the DCSAA State Tournament Most Valuable Player and Player of the Year … In addition, Gibson was selected to the USA Today ALL-USA District of Columbia Boys Basketball Team … After averaging 18.9 points per game, Gibson was an All-Met First Team along with fellow Towson signee Charles Thompson … Gibson was the heart of the Quakers' offense this season, scoring the winning basket in the tournament quarterfinals and 24 points in the championship game.
