Biography

COACH KENNEDY ON JONATHAN: “This is the best he’s ever looked. Physically he’s injury free. He can play the wing but he’s super active and can rebound. He’ll be very important to us.”

2006-07 SEASON:  Returned to the team after sitting out the 2005-06 season with a knee injury ... between playing his way back into shape and an illness that sidelined him for several games, he didn’t reclaim his starting job on a regular basis until mid-season ... played in 27 games ... the first half of the season he averaged 12.7 minutes and 2.4 points ... the last 16 games he averaged 21.4 minutes and 5.3 points ... along with Gary Neal he was the other outside threat ... sixty-five per cent of his made field goals were three-pointers ... had a season high 16 points at Hofstra when he played a season high 36 minutes ... scored in double figures three times.

2004-05 SEASON:  The Tigers top outside threat ... missed 8 games after undergoing surgery to remove a damaged meniscus in his right knee ... he re-injured it in the closing minutes of the Tigers’ 86-69 victory over JMU ... the following summer Jonathan underwent surgery to repair the same torn meniscus ... he  returned to the lineup against Hofstra, playing 28 minutes ... a starter in 7 games before his injury  ... in his first start of the season he scored a career high 25 points in a road victory at VMI ... that was a single game high for a TU player in 2004-05 ... as a starter he averaged 12.6 ppg ... scored in double figures in 10 games ... had 3 double-doubles ... his .342 from beyond the arc led the Tigers ... a good FT shooter, he made 22 of 31 attempts.

2003-04 SEASON: Came into his own the latter part of the season ... suffered a severe ankle sprain in late December and sat out the Virginia Tech and UMES games ... was averaging 22 minutes and 6.9 points per game before the injury ... took him some time to get back into the flow ... started the last 6 games of the season, averaging 25.3 minutes and 8.0 points ... hit 12 of his 20 three-pointers in the last 8 games, shooting .462 from beyond the arc during that time ... played a season high 34 minutes in the season finale against VCU in the CAA Tournament quarterfinals, scoring 9 points and grabbing a team and career high 8 rebounds ... netted a career high 13 points and grabbed 6 boards at George Washington ... the month of January was a slow one for him as he played a total of 87 minutes ... he played 192 minutes (24.0 average) in February when he scored 65 of his season’s 149 points ... scored in double figures 3 of the last 5 regular season games ... started on a wing the last 6 games ... 9 of his 14 made field goals the last 6 games were treys ... he led the team at the free thrown line with a .745 percentage ... as a starter he made 11 of 12 from the charity stripe.

AT CHOPTICON H.S.: A three-year starter at a wing spot for coach Rich O’Donnell ... he was instrumental in Chopticon’s 63-11 record his last three years that included two trips to the Maryland State AAA Final Four ... the Braves were 42-6 in the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference (SMAC) over the span ... they were 22-3 overall his senior year ... final loss was in the 3A state championship game ... Jonathan scored 12 points ... the Braves became the first SMAC team to reach a state title game since 1990 ... Chopticon was 24-1 in 2001-02 with its only loss coming in the Maryland State 3A Semifinals to Douglass High School of Baltimore ... a two-time All-Extra and All-SMAC pick, Jonathan led the league with a 58% shooting percentage from the floor ... he averaged 15.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists for the Braves ... he netted a career high 38 points against Leonardtown in a 2002 post-season game.

BACKGROUND/PERSONAL: Once poured in 38 points for Team Baltimore in an AAU Under 17 game ... competed in the Maryland /Pennsylvania All-Star Game ... a high school teammate, guard T.J. Carter, is a senior guard at UNC-Wilmington ... named the United States Navy Scholar-Athlete of the Year for Chopticon, symbolic of the school’s senior scholar-athlete for the 2002-03 year ... takes part in Towson’s Best Buddies program ... he was honored by the state Board of Education with a Student Star Service Award for his work with special education students ... considering a career as a special education teacher ... surname is Jonathan David Pease ... son of Jerry and Kimberly Pease ... majoring in Special Education.
