Biography

2007-08 SEASON: A starter in the backcourt in 11 games ... led all players in minutes played who saw duty in at least 20 games as a sub with a 16.1 mpg average ... his production tailed off as the season progressed ... he averaged 9.7 points and 22.9 minutes in the first 11 games that included 9 starts but slipped to 3.8 ppg and 16.1 mpg, going scoreless in five games ... Towson’s best player in transition ... cut way down on his turnovers with just 26 boots in 31 games ... those 26 turnovers were the least for all Towson players with at least 500 minutes of PT in the season ... as a defender he helped hold Loyola’s high scoring Gerald Brown to 17 points, Northeastern’s Matt Janning to 6 points, Hofstra’s Antoine Agudio to 10 points and VCU’s Eric Maynor to 11 points ... an improved foul shooter, he hit 7 of 8 free throws in final 54 seconds in the road win at Samford and was 5 of 6 down the stretch in the Hofstra win ... sparked the Tigers’ 60-51 win over Hofstra with a season high 17 points off the bench, scoring 5 of Towson’s final 8 points ... Tigers had an 18-0 run that lasted over 8 minutes fueled by Rocky who scored 8 of his game’s 10 points during it in the win over North Carolina Central ... scored all 12 of his points against Navy in the first half ... he came off the bench to score all of his team high 13 points in the second half at Auburn, scoring 11 straight points for Towson during one stretch ... he led the Tigers with 15 points in the loss at Temple ... he made 4 of 6 shots from the floor while the team suffered through a school record low 23.2% shooting against the Owls ... had scored in 16 straight games until going scoreless at George Mason.

 

 2006-07 SEASON: Spent most of his time at the point guard spot ... a starter early in the season ... production and minutes played were down from his freshman year but he assumed a different role ... started a total of 11 games ... appeared in 31 games ... fourth on the team with 47 assists ... likes playing at Georgia State ... he scored a career high 21 points and  had a season high in rebounds with 7 and  assists with 5 against the Panthers in Atlanta ... the previous year he hit for 20 points there ... scored in double figures four times during the season, netting 12 points in the win over Winston-Salem State and registering 10 points against Western Kentucky and William & Mary.

2005-06 SEASON: Had an immediate impact on the squad in his freshman year as a swing guard ... made 18 starts ... tallied 16 points in his college debut against Loyola in the season opener ... scored a career and team high 20 points and dished out 8 assists in leading Towson to a 70-69 win at Georgia State ... grabbed a career high 9 rebounds against Hofstra ... 22 of his 77 turnovers came in 3 games, 16 of those in his first two games of the season ... second on the team with 103 assists ... he dished out 9 assists in only 16 minutes on the floor against William & Mary ... scored 13 points in the win at Lehigh ... had 12 points in 13 minutes off the bench against ODU.

AT WALBOOK HIGH SCHOOL: Led the Warriors to a 26-2 record and the Baltimore area’s number one high school ranking in 2004-05 ... helped Walbrook close out its best season ever with 17 straight wins as the Warriors captured city, regional and state championships - all firsts for the program ... Rocky averaged 16.7 points, 9.2 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 2.3 steals per game for the top-ranked Warriors ... a first team All-Metro selection, Rocky enjoyed a terrific post-season ... he averaged 15.1 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting 10 of 20 from the field as Walbrook beat Old Mill 51-41 in the MPSSAA semifinals and then Blake 45-38 for the state championship ... he then paced the Baltimore All-Stars to a 110-107 victory over the U.S. All-Stars, earning Most Valuable Player honors in the Charm City Challenge with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists.
 
BACKGROUND/PERSONAL: Surname is Velmar Rosheem Coleman ... In addition to his high school basketball, Rocky played six years for the Cecil Kirk AAU team and was a teammate to Rudy Gay (Connecticut), Paris Carter (Harford) and Chester Frazier (Illinois) ... his most memorable experience to date was winning the Main Event Championship in Las Vegas, Nev. ... the person he most admires is his Uncle Mack ... has worked at the Bentalou Basketball Camp during the summer months ... a member of Black Men of America while at Walbrook ... earned a spot on the honor roll while at Walbrook ... attended the same high school as Devin Boyd, Towson University’s all-time leading scorer with 2,000 career points ... son of Albert Draughn and Renell Coleman ... youngest of three children in the family ... Rocky is a Criminal Justice Major.
