Matthew Kabay joins the Towson athletic department as an athletic trainer for the 2021-22 season. He primarily works with the men's basketball team.
He comes to Towson after four years at Arkansas State University, where he worked with the men's basketball, men's golf and women's golf programs. He was responsible for all day-to-day sports medicine duties, including injury prevention programs.
Before Arkansas State, he was an intern athletic trainer at Ohio State, primarily working with football and men's tennis. He was also a preceptor to undergraduate athletic training students. Previous stops include being a graduate assistant at East Stroudsburg, working primarily with women's volleyball and wrestling and assisting with track & field and women's soccer, plus he was an intern athletic trainer at the U.S. Naval Academy for varsity and JV football, also assisting women's basketball, JV men's basketball, men's tennis and squash.
While at undergraduate at Waynesburg University, he worked with his alma mater and also did internships with the Minnesota Vikings and Louisiana State University.
Kabay graduated from Waynesburg in 2014, majoring in athletic training and exercise science. He earned his Master's Degree in 2016 from East Stroudsburg in advanced clinical athletic training. Kabay is a BOC certified athletic trainer and is a certified strength & conditioning specialist.
