2008 FALL: Saw action in the first event of the year, making the trip to the Rutgers Invitational where he tied for 70^th with a 152 (77-75) ... wasn’t able to hold his position the rest of the fall as the veterans garnered all the challenges.

AT CALVERT HALL: Led the Cardinals to the MIAA “A” Conference regular season title with an 11-1 league record and a 13-2 mark overall in his senior year ... the Cardinals were 23-4 in his two years on the varsity ... he was named All-Conference as a junior and a senior ... captained the squad in his senior year when he posted a 12-2-1 record ... averaged 35.6 over nine holes his final year ... tore a tendon in his left wrist that kept him from competing in the MIAA tournament ... he was among the favorites to win take medalist honors.

BACKGROUND/PERSONAL: Surname is Patrick McLernon DeFries but prefers “Mac” ... favorite golfer is Jim Furyk ... most memorable experience is playing golf with his grandfather, Henry DeFries who was a former Maryland State and Mid-Atlantic amateur champion ... Mac was a two-time junior club champ at Winters Run Golf Course in Bel Air where he also won the men’s club title ... low round on that course is a 66 he carded there this past summer ... the person he admires most is his dad ... favorite actor is Jim Belushi ... favorite movie is Tropic Thunder ... undecided about a major ... son of Patrick DeFries and Kelli Magee.
