Biography
2022-23: Competed in 10 tournaments, averaging 72.41 per round…was Towson’s top finisher at six tournaments, the most out of anyone on the team…saw eight top-20 finishes including a third place at the Southern Invitational (April 3-4) after rounds of 67-68-75…shot a season low 66 during the second round of the Ross Collegiate Classic (Mar. 13-14)…named CAA Men’s Golfer of the Week (April 5)…named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District At-Large Team and CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll for fall semester.
2021-22: CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Team … played in 10 tournaments, putting in 29 rounds as a junior … averaged a 75.00 per round … posted three top-20 finishes, including third place at the Towson Invitational (78-64-72–214) to round out the fall … notched a 64 in the second round of the Towson Invitational, the third-best single round score in program history … tied for seventh at the Howard Bison Invitational in mid-October (76-75-78–229) and tied for 16th at two-round Carpetbagger Classic (78-73–151) in mid-March.
2021: Qualified for all six tournaments … Towson’s top finisher at the Southern Invitational (March 1-2) … made 30 pars during the three rounds and finished 11-over par after rounds of 76-77-74 … shot a season-low 73 during the final round of the Carpetbagger Classic on March 21 where he birdied four of six holes during one stretch.
Spring 2020: Competed in the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate tournament and led the Tigers with a three round score of 222 (+6) … He shot an even par in first round and three over in the final two rounds … Had four birdies but was remarkably consistent throughout both rounds … Led Towson with 37 pars during the tournament.
Fall 2019: Competed in four events and averaged 74.0 over 10 rounds … Had four rounds of par or better … Shot a one-under 71 in the second round of the Healthplan Mountaineer Invitational … Best individual finish was being tied for 16th overall at the Towson Fall Invitational (+2) … Shot even par over the final two rounds of the Elon Phoenix Invitational, finishing with a 71 in each round
Prior To Towson: He was named the 2018 Rochester District Golf Association Boy's Junior Player of the Year and he won the 2017 RDGA Boys' Junior Championship. Nationally, Summerson also qualified for the 2018 Boys Junior PGA Championship on the strength of his second place finish at the 2018 WNYPGA Junior Championship. His 74-72 there earned him a spot in the national championship, which was contested at the famed Valhalla Golf Club, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Personal: Son of Scott and Leslie Summerson … Has a younger brother named Jacob … Also played basketball …. He lists his parents as who he admires the most … Hobbies include hanging with friends and vacationing … A fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tiger Woods is his favorite athlete … Favorite meal is steak … Most memorable experience was winning the 2015 NYS Sub-Junior championship.
