Biography

Cross Country: (Graduate Year) Closed out an outstanding career ... captured three individual titles, winning the Baltimore Metro, Cappy Anderson and Towson Invitational ... named CAA Runner of the Week twice ... set the program record for a 5K with a time of 18:00.59, beating the 25-year-old record (18:01) of Buffy Gavigan by one-hundreth of a second at the Cappy Anderson ... placed 7th at the CAA Meet to earn All-CAA status for a second straight year ... was Towson's top finisher in six of the races ... on her career she won six individual titles and ran first for the Tigers in 18 meets ... one of just three Towson runners to ever earn All-CAA honors. (Senior Year) Finished first for Towson in 7 of the Tigers' 8 meets, posting sub-19:00 times in each of her 5K races, including a personal record 18:18 that earned her a 2nd place finish at the Delaware Invitational ... she ran an 18:28 to place first in the Towson Invitational and was named CAA Runner of the Week for leading the Tigers to the team championship ... she finished 10th at the CAA championship meet in a personal record 21:44 for a 6K race to become just the second Tiger to earn All-CAA honors in cross country .. ran 7th overall at the ECAC championships in a time of 18:30 ... in the 8 meets she had one first place and two seconds.  (Junior Year) Redshirted 2008-09 due to a stress fracture ... came back in 2009 ... competed in every race ... best finish was 5th place (19:33) in the Towson Invitational ... other top ten finish was an 8th place in the Delaware Invitational where she clocked her best 5K time of the season in 19:17 ... none of her 2009 times topped those of her freshman year. (Sophomore Year) Redshirted. (Freshman Year) Enjoyed an outstanding freshman year ... finished in the top 10 overall in four of the first five meets ... was Towson's top finisher in five of the eight cross country events ... placed second overall and first for the Tigers in her college debut when she ran an 18:38 in the Baltimore Metro Meet ... that was the 4th fastest time ever for a Towson runner on the Tigers' home Oregon Ridge Park course ... she followed that with an 18:47 for a first place in the Towson Invitational ... that was the only sub-19:00 time among the meet's 114 runners ... her opening season times were two of just three 5K's clocked under 19 minutes by a Tiger all year ... for those two performances Katie was named Colonial Athletic Association Runner of the Week ... her other first place showing was 21:53 at the Don Cathcart Salisbury Invitational which proved to be the fastest 6K time for a Tiger runner in 2007 ... she ran the second fastest time (22:45) for a freshman in the CAA Championship meet, finishing 20th on the Bethpage State Park 6K course.

Track: (Senior Year) She ranks 5th on the program's all-time list in the 3000 meter run with a 10:11.91 clocked at the 2011 Delaware Open ... indoors she holds the 5000 meter run record with the 17:26.48 she ran at the Lafayette-Rider Games ...  she stands 7th on Towson's indoor mile list with a clocking of 5:12.55  (Junior Year) Returned to the oval in 2009-10 after redshirting 2008-09 due to a stress fracture ... after a so-so winter campaign she showed signs of a full recovery in the spring ... set the school record by over half a minute in the 10,000 meter run with a 36:18.14 for a 4th place at the CAA Championships ... moved up to 3rd on the all-time 5K list with a 17:46.17 at Princeton, just the 4th time a Towson runner has posted a sub-18:00 time. (Sophomore Year) Redshirted. (Freshman Year) Captured the only individual title for Towson in the Bucknell Winter Classic when she ran an 18:36.50 for a first place in the 5000 ... she won the 3000 (10:54.50) handily at the Thomson Invitational at Delaware ... she got off to a fast start on the outdoor track when she won the 5K (18:37.39) at the CCU Invitational ... two weeks later she helped the Tigers to a decisive team title at the Delaware State Hornet Invitational by winning the 5K in 18:14.65 ... although she placed 5th overall, she posted a 5K PR at the Penn Invitational with an 18:09.53 which ranked as the 5th fastest time in program history.

Background/Personal: One of the top runners in the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference while performing for Northern High School ...ran for her father, Geoff Ogden, at Northern ... named to the Washington Post's 2006 All-Metro Cross Country team and its 2007 All-Metro Track honorable mention team ... Katie was a seven-time state regional champion, a nine-time conference champion ... her personal bests included 18:23 for the three mile, a SWAC record 18:36 in the 5K, a state runner up 11:22 in the 3200, and a 5:13 in the 1600 ... she holds the Northern program record in the 3200 and the 3200 relay ... she's also the Patriots' course record holder ... Katie was selected Northern's Female Athlete of the Year for 2006-07 ... she was a member of the National Honor Society and editor-in-chief of the school newspaper ... the oldest of three girls in the family ... the people she most admires are her parents ... hobbies include playing soccer ... works part-time at a dog and cat kennel ... favorite athlete is Derek Jeter ... favorite book is "Harry Potter" by her favorite author, J.K. Rowling ... other favorites include the movie Grease, actor Johnny Depp, musical group Coldplay plus Bob Marley and Bruce Springsteen and the Oliver Garden's Pizza ... most memorable experience to date was winning the 3200 at the conference meet and setting the record ... both parents attended Mt. St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg where her dad ran for The Mount ... an uncle, Mark Ogden, competed in cross country and track at Georgetown ... Katie's younger sister, Megan, was a member of the Tigers' cross country and track teams last year ... graduated in May, 2011 from Towson with a 3.531grade point average ... returning for her final year of competition as a graduate student ... daughter of Geoff and Laura Ogden ... born December 9, 1989 in Clinton, Md.
