Biography

The first player recruited to play women’s golf at Towson ... transferred from Winthrop after her freshman year ... holds all of Towson’s records ... a long ball hitter and a good decision maker on the course.

 

2008 FALL: Led the Tigers to a very productive fall ... shot a school record 73 in the final round to lead Towson to a first place finish in the Lady Herd Fall Classic ... her 149 (76-73) at the event is a school record for 36 holes ... she finished second overall and was named CAA Women’s Golfer of the Week for her performance ... followed that with a 152 in the next event to tie for 13th in the Spider Invitational ... closed out the fall with an 81.1 average.

 

2007-08: Played in all 12 events, averaging 82.7 ...was Towson’s top finisher a team high five times ... had three top 10 finishes ... earned a tie for medalist honors with a 77 in the head-to-head win over Long Island ... tied for 6th in the Lonnie Barton ... tied for 8th  in the season opener at the Colonial Intercollegiate with a 36-hole total of 151 ... that proved to be the lowest two round score of the year for a Towson player ... she shot a 75 on her first 18 holes of the season and that stood up as the low round for the Tigers for the entire 2007-08 year ... that tied the then school record for the lowest round ... Morgan’s 238 (77-82-79) at the CAA Championships remains the school record for 54 holes ... she was Towson’s top finisher at the CAA’s.

 

2006-07 SEASON: Top place finisher for the Tigers twice ... had three top 10 finishes ... carded a season best 77 in the opening round of the Sea Trail Women’s Intercollegiate ... averaged 81.8 in seven events ... earned medalist honors at the Mt. St. Mary’s Spring Thing with a field leading 83 ... finished fifth with a (79-78) 157 at the Rutgers Women’s Invitational ... tied for eighth (80-79) with a 159 at the Bucknell Fall Classic.

 

AT WINTHROP: Morgan transferred to Towson after her freshman year at Winthrop where she was the Eagles’ leading golfer ... shot a college career best 70 at the Shamrock Invitational ... placed third with a (75-78) 153 to lead the Eagles to the 2004 Rafferty Intercollegiate team title ... she averaged a team best 77.0 for the Eagles ... the team representative to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

 

AT SEVERNA PARK: Competed on the boys’ team all four years at Severna Park since the Falcons did not field a girls’ team ... she hit from the men’s tees in all matches ... named Anne Arundel County Player of the Year in her senior year by the Washington Post when she was the county’s top golfer in stroke average for both boys and girls ... she finished third in the county tournament, second in the district and fourth at the state meet with a 77 ... she set a new school record when she shot a 3-under par 33 in a nine-hole match at Crofton Country Club, her home course ... in her junior year she won the District 5 girls’ championship and tied for fifth in the state tournament ... the Falcons won four county boys’ titles and three District  boys’ championships during her high school career ... she was a team captain in her senior year ... selected as the Optimist Club’s Student Leader for Severna Park ... an honor roll student all four years.

 

BACKGROUND/PERSONAL: Full name is Morgan Emily Reich ... her dad introduced her to golf at age six ... one of four women chosen to represent the United States in a Nike Junior Golf Ryder Cup match in Ireland in the summer of 2002 ... Morgan was the only American to go undefeated against the Irish in the five matches, leading the U.S. to the team victory ... lists her grandparents as the people she most admires ... has volunteered each of the past six years in the Appalachia Service Project, spending time in the summer repairing dilapidated homes ... enjoys traveling, reading, going to church and salt water fishing ... favorite athlete is Peggy Kirk Bell ... her most memorable moment is transferring to Towson to help start the women’s golf team ... her dad attended Florida State and is the director of sales and marketing for Intercontinental Hotel in Cleveland ... her mother attended Longwood University ... a Business Management major ... daughter of Michael and Cherie Reich.
