Matt Gibson finished his third year as an assistant coach for the Towson women's soccer team in 2014. He works with the Tigers' goalkeeping corps.
Gibson has helped Erin Quinn finish her career as one of the finest goalies in Towson history. She finished in the top six in program history in saves (3rd; 318), minutes (3rd; 5251), shutouts (4th; 9), save percentage (5th; .803), and goals-against average (GAA) (6th; 1.23).
Gibson came to Towson with a vast amount of experience training and developing goalkeepers. He recently completed a four-year stint at Johns Hopkins University as the men's and women's goalkeeper coach. During that same period he held the position as the girls' head state goalkeeper coach with the Maryland Olympic Development Program. In this role he was responsible for coordinating training sessions and developing the top youth goalkeepers in the Maryland ODP system.
Prior to 2006, Gibson was an active youth soccer coach in the state of Ohio. From 1999-2005, he served as the head goalkeeper coach for the boy's and girl's State Team in the Ohio South Olympic Development Program. In addition to this role, Gibson was the head club goalkeeper trainer for the Centerville United Soccer Association and Ohio Elite Soccer Academy.
Gibson received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing in 2002 and Master of Business Administration in 2004 from Wright State University. As a student-athlete at WSU, he was a four-year letter winner and two-year starting goalkeeper for the Raiders.
From 2000-02 Gibson played in the Premier Development League (PDL) for the Dayton Gemini and in 2005 he played in the USL Second Division for the Cincinnati Kings during their inaugural season.
