The 2024-25 season will be Verheyen's first on the Towson swimming & diving staff.
The Towson University men’s and women’s swimming & diving Head Coach Anthony Bruno has added Max Verheyen as an assistant coach ahead of the 2024-25 season, announced Monday afternoon.
“I am thrilled to join such a talented coaching staff that has seen so much recent success,” added Verheyen. “I can’t wait to learn and grow as a coach and help the team and student-athletes improve not only in the pool, but also in the classroom and their lives.”
Verheyen joins Towson’s staff after graduating from Loyola University with a master’s degree in emerging media in May. He was a four-time first team All-Patriot League selection, a four-year Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) member and two-year team captain of the Greyhounds’ squad.
Verheyen served as SAAC vice president in the 2021-22 academic year and president during the 2022-23 academic year. The Baltimore native was named the Patriot League Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year this past season.
Verheyen has more than three years of experience as an assistant youth coach with the Eagle Swim Team in Owings Mills, Md. and Roland Run Swim Club in Lutherville, Md, helping develop athletes’ technical skills and racing performance.
