Debbie Holtschneider

Debbie Holtschneider is entering her third season as the assistant coach of the Towson tennis team.

Last season was cut short due to the global Coronavirus pandemic. Holtschneider helped lead Towson to three wins in the dual season of 2019-20, including two 7-0 shutouts over Coppin State and Delaware State.

During her first season with the Tigers, Holtschneider’s effort helped the Tigers finish with 13 wins, including victories over UNCW, Drexel and Villanova. Holtschneider assisted the team to its first program win over the Seahawks and a 3-2 finish in conference play and a 7-2 home record for the 2019 dual season.

Holtschneider is the head teaching pro at Pine Valley Swim & Tennis C;ub, where she is in charge of instruction. She previously coached at Roland Park Country School, and Perry Hall High School, where the team won a County Championship and several players advanced to the state championships.

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Holtschneider played No. 1 singles at Dundalk Community College. She was undefeated in two regular seasons and advanced to the National Championships in her second year. She then started for two seasons at Division II powerhouse Lander University in South Carolina.  Holtschneider is a member of the Community College of Baltimore County Athletic Hall of Fame. She is a former top 10 player among Maryland women.

Holtschneider graduated from Lander University with a degree in Health & Wellness. She later earned a master's equivalency in education from Towson. She taught in the Baltimore County school system for several years before raising three sons.
