Kristin Messmer began volunteering with Towson Tennis in spring 2021. Currently, she is a USPTR certified teaching professional at the Coppermine Tennis and Fitness Club.
A former International Tennis Federation (ITF) tour player, Messmer was the number 1 ranked women’s single player in the state of Maryland in 2007. She played four seasons at Ohio State University and ranked in the top 15 in all-time single match victories when she graduated in 2007. She led the Buckeyes in victories in both 2006 (20) and 2007 (11). During her junior season, she had an 11-match winning streak.
In high school, Messmer earned three consecutive MIAA A Conference titles at No. 1 singles. During her three-year high school career at McDonogh, she went undefeated (43-0) and only dropped one set. She was named The Baltimore Sun Player of the Year as a junior in 2002.
In 2002, Messmer ranked No. 201 out of 905 players eligible for a national ranking in the United States Tennis Association's 18-and-under division. That spring, she won two matches at the prestigious Easter Bowl national tournament.
