Mariana Silva is entering her fourth season as an assistant coach with the Tigers in 2025.
In Silva’s first season at Towson, she worked closely with defensive specialists, liberos and setters while designing the offensive plays to help the Tigers win their fourth consecutive Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and the CAA Regular Season Title. The Tigers went 29-2 which included a four-set victory over #7 Pittsburgh, the first win over a ranked team in program history. She worked closely with Sarah Jordan, the first setter since Marissa Wonders to earn All-CAA First Team honors.
Silva coordinates with the alumni to manage multiple alumni days and updates the database for the program. She oversees the academics of the athletes while managing travel arrangements for the team.
Silva joined the three-time reigning CAA Champions after a one-year stint as an assistant coach at Missouri Southern State University.
Prior to Missouri Southern, Silva spent a year and a half with the Northern Virginia Volleyball Association (NVVA). She served as a full-time coach and was also the interim technical director for the club.
Silva served on the staff at George Mason University as a volunteer coach and two years as a graduate assistant coach at Valdosta State University.
Silva played two seasons at Florida International University where she led the team in assists and service aces as a junior and ranked eighth in Conference USA play in blocks. As a senior, Silva moved to the front row as middle blocker and finished second on the team with 69 total blocks, leading the Panthers with 0.95 blocks per set.
Prior to FIU, Silva played at Pratt Community College in Kansas where she was a member of the KJCAC All-Tournament team and was an All-Conference selection as a sophomore in 2015.
Silva is a native of Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil. She graduated from FIU in 2018 with a recreation and sport management degree.
