Ed Lowery

Ed Lowery joined Towson in August 2022 as director of athletics academic achievement.

Lowery comes to Towson after working at the University of South Carolina from 2017-2022. From August 2017-August 2021 he worked as an academic advisor for the men’s and women’s swimming & diving and softball team. Lowery met weekly with freshman and transfer student-athletes to monitor transition, attended coaches meetings to provide academic updates, developed individualized academic support plans for student athletes and facilitated study hall. During his time in this position, the men’s swimming & diving and softball team achieved highest GPA in program history. From August 2021-August 2022 Lowery worked as assistant director of academics. During his time in this position he was the academic advisor for men’s and women’s swimming & diving, softball, men’s tennis and men’s golf. Lowery was responsible for overseeing 110+ student-athletes to monitor academic progress, degree completion, class attendance, continued eligibility and APR in compliance with institution, SEC and NCAA rules.

Prior to this Lowery worked at the University of Arizona as an assistant academic counselor from July 2016-July 2017. He worked with men’s and women’s swimming & diving, football and women’s soccer student athletes. His responsibilities included building relationships with student-athletes, providing academic updates to coaches and monitoring NCAA eligibility for assigned students.

Lowery also worked at Temple University as director of operations for the women’s volleyball team from August 2015-May 2016. He secured buses, hotels and flight plans for travel, facilitated campus tours for recruits, managed the team budget, organized team events and ensured facilities and equipment were arranged and in place for practices and matches. From August 2013-August 2015 Lowery worked as a graduate intern in the academic support center for student athletes at Temple as well. He was responsible for co-advising the men’s crew and women’s soccer team.

Lowery graduated from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania in 2013, earning his bachelor's degree in sport administration. He earned his masters in adult organizational development from Temple University in 2016. Lowery is currently a member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals.
