Towson University Athletics

Towson University track & field/cross country welcomed Jonathan Alexis to the coaching staff in August of 2026.

Alexis joins Towson after spending the past three years as an assistant coach with Alabama State’s track & field program. Working primarily with jumpers, pole vaulters and multi-event athletes, he helped develop multiple NCAA qualifiers, contributed to four Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) team championships and played an integral role in producing some of the nation’s top jumping talent.

Prior to Alabama State, Alexis made coaching stops at Iowa Central Community College, Carver Academy (Va.) and Virginia Union University. While at Iowa Central, Alexis was awarded five USTFCCCA Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year honors.

Alexis is a native of Brooklyn, New York. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Virginia Union University and an Associate of Arts from Kingsborough Community College.
