A key member of the Towson University Athletic Academic Support Program, Geoff Gordon came to Towson in the summer of 2006.
Gordon currently serves as the Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Achievement, a role he has held since August 2014. In this position, Gordon supervises all aspects of the Athletic Academic Achievement area. In addition to serving as the academic advisor for softball and volleyball (along with men’s lacrosse in the spring of 2015), he acts a liaison for Athletics and University Admissions. Gordon serves as the Athletics liaison to the Towson University Career Center and works closely with this unit in the development of career planning programs for student-athletes. He serves on various committees while co-facilitating the Faculty Fellows and Guest Coach programs and managing the Athletic Academic budget. Gordon also serves as an advisor for the LEaD Tiger and SAAC Programs, while also maintaining his role as a liaison to the Registrar’s Office for student-athlete major declarations.
He also serves as sport administrator for the baseball and women's soccer programs.
He is a member of the National Athletic Academic Advisor Association (N4A).
Prior to taking his current position, Gordon spent a year as the Assistant Director for Athletic Academic Achievement for a year. In that position, Gordon served as the academic advisor for men’s and women’s basketball. He worked as a liaison with the other side of campus in various academic areas while supervising the athletic academic interns. He worked with several football student-athletes and coordinated the hiring of the academic advisor for football and the learning specialist for men’s and women’s basketball. Gordon also served as the liaison to the Registrar’s Office for major declarations needing the Athletic Department approval.
Gordon served as the basketball teams’ academic advisor from 2011 to 2014. In that role he conducted weekly meetings with the players and also with the head coaches and basketball learning specialists to relay information. He required tutoring for certain athletes, attended and assisted with official recruiting visits and provided legal academic material to prospective student-athletes. He also played a key role in helping to improve the men’s basketball APR.
Prior to that he was the Academic Advisor for the Tiger baseball, field hockey, men's and women's golf, softball and women's soccer squads. During that time he also served as a volunteer assistant coach with the Towson softball program.
Before coming to Towson, Gordon served as the Intern for Academic Services at the University of Cincinnati. There he served as the Assistant Tutorial Coordinator and the Academic Advisor for Men's Golf, Women's Golf, and Women's Tennis (2005-2006).
In addition to earning his B.A. degree in psychology from Cincinnati, Gordon earned his Master's in Education from Xavier in 2005.
The New Orleans, Louisiana native was a two-time All-Conference performer with the Delgado Community College baseball team, and a two-year letter winner with the University of Cincinnati baseball team.
