Erica Williamson

Erica Williamson, the former Director of Basketball Operations at George Washington University and standout at national powerhouse University of Notre Dame, joined the Towson University women’s basketball staff as an assistant coach in the summer of 2015.

Williamson comes to Towson after spending three years as the Director of Operations for the women’s basketball team at George Washington. She played a key role in helping the Colonials post a 29-4 record last year, while capturing the Atlantic 10 Championship and advancing to the NCAA Tournament. During their exceptional season, Williamson was a part of a GW team that ranked as high as 19th in the nation and was ranked in the Top 25 for nine weeks (AP & Coaches Poll). From an X’s and O’s standpoint, Williamson was responsible for scouting opponents in addition to breaking down and editing film of the Colonials’ games and practices. She helped the coaching staff with the preparation and planning of post player development which resulted in three Colonial post players earning All-Conference awards last year, including Jonquel Jones, who was named the Atlantic 10 Player and Defensive Player of the Year.

Williamson coordinated all aspects of team travel during the 2014-15 season and helped with the ordering, branding, and distribution of equipment. In addition Williamson collaborated with the coaching staff for all campus recruiting visits, created unique recruiting mailers, and worked as the team’s social media coordinator. She served as the camp director for all of the George Washington Summer Camps and helped triple the day camp attendance from 2013 to 2014. Williamson also worked as the liaison between the basketball program and the marketing/facilities offices, assisted with game-day operations, and initiated team community service projects.

Prior to joining the staff at George Washington, Williamson spent a year as the Director of Basketball Operations at Loyola University. There she organized practice and game film exchange while coordinating all components of team travel. Williamson assisted the coaching staff during practice and games and worked as a liaison between the program and the athletics administration.

Williamson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film, Television and Theater from Notre Dame in 2010 while graduating a semester early.

While in South Bend, Indiana she was a standout center for Head Coach Muffet McGraw and the Fighting Irish. She was a four-year letter winner who scored 741 points and grabbed 539 rebounds. Williamson had 125 career blocks which ranks ninth in school history while her 1.19 blocks per game average in seventh best in school history. She led the team in blocked shots as a freshman with 39. Williamson helped the Irish win at least 20 games in all four seasons and advance to the NCAA Tournament each of those years. Notre Dame advanced to the Sweet 16 in her sophomore and senior seasons. She was a three-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic team and a member of the BIG EAST All-Freshman team. Williamson served as the Student-Athlete Advisory Council president during her senior season and earned the Christopher Zorich Award for contributions to the university and community at-large.

After graduating from Notre Dame, Williamson was invited to the training camp for the New York Liberty of the WNBA. She went on to become the starting center for SV Halle Lions of the Damen Basketball Bundesliga, the premier women’s basketball league in Germany.
