Tigers Sweep CAA Pod Meet

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Senior Kayla Zeller set a UNC Wilmington pool record in the 500-yard freestyle to lead the Tigers (6-0, 4-0) to a sweep of their Colonial Athletic Association dual meet at the Seahawk Natatorium on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers, who have now won 11 straight dual meets dating back to last season, defeated the host Seahawks by a 215-138 margin. In addition, they earned a 223.50-129.50 victory over Delaware and had a 282-70 win over George Mason.

Zeller posted a time of 4:57.97 in the 500-yard freestyle to break the UNCW pool record by 0.06 seconds as the Tigers recorded the top three times in the event.

Senior Meredith Budner, who won a pair of events during Saturday's sessions, earned her third win of the meet by posting a time of 51.74 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle.

Senior Brooke Golden, who earned a third place effort in the 500-yard freestyle, also set a UNCW pool record in the 200-yard butterfly with a first place time of 2:04.99, breaking the previous mark set in 1998.

The Tigers also set a UNCW pool record in the 400-yard freestyle relay by finishing first with a time of 3:27.87.

Junior Caroline Baker finished first in the one-meter diving event by scoring 228.95 points while junior Jeanne Ball placed second with a score of 212.05.

The Tigers will visit the University of Maryland next Saturday for a double dual meet against the host Terrapins and UMBC at 1 p.m.
