Good
morning Tiger Nation, and welcome to the Morning Roar.
Let's Unleash the Roar
Today is
Thursday, so that means another edition of Tiger
Talk will air on the Towson Sports Network. Join hosts Spiro Morekas and
Damon Lewis at Bill Bateman's Bistro in Towson from 6-7 p.m. This week guests
include @Towson_MLAX head
coach Shawn Nadelen and @Towson_MBB
head coach Pat Skerry.
@Towson_MLAX fell
to 0-3 last night when they took on the No. 2 team in all the land and defending national champion Loyola Greyhounds. The Tigers spotted Loyola
four goals to start the game, but right before the half Towson went on a 3-0 run
but went into the break down 8-4. The Tigers went on another 4-1 run in the second
half but couldn't slow down Mike Sawyer and the Greyhounds and eventually fell
14-9. Junior Thomas DeNapoli had a career-high four goals in the loss. Check out
highlights here.
When you're walking to class or work today, take a deep
breath and feel the sharp pain of cold air in your lungs. Boy, does that hurt. @Towson_TFXC's Emily Wenger looks
forward to running outside more than inside any day (despite the pain) because to her it is much easier
to breathe outside. Wenger had a chance to sit down with
Milton Kent to talk all about it in the latest edition of A
View From Kent Road.
Congratulations
to @Towson_GYM's Abby Griswold
who was named EAGL
Gymnast of the Week after winning the All-Around Championship at the 28th-annual Shelli Calloway Memorial Invitational over the weekend. This is the
first time this year any gymnast has won an EAGL Gymnast of the Week
award.
Hardwood Talk
It is game
day for @Towson_WBB. They are in Harrisonburg, Va. to take on James Madison. The Tigers have won two straight games after defeating Hofstra, 69-60, at the
Towson Center on Tuesday. Guards Dominique Johnson and Tanisha McTiller
combined for 42 points against the Pride, and if they can keep that up, there
are good odds this win streak could be pushed to three games.
On the
men's side Jerrelle Benimon is closing
in on a school record in just his first season in a Towson uniform. Benimon
is just eight rebounds away from setting the Tigers' single-season record for
rebounds among Division I players, which is currently held by Robert Nwanko (323). And Benimon is 64 rebounds shy of the Tigers' all-time mark, regardless
of division, which is held by Pat McKinley and set back in the 1976-77 season.
Thanks for
reading another edition of the Morning Roar. Be sure to check back the same
time tomorrow for the latest. Also, follow me on Twitter - Zach Maskavich">@ZachMaskavich.
