Sam Zelenack, the Towson University field hockey team (2-12, 0-3) fell to Appalachian State (3-14) by a score of 2-01 on Sunday afternoon. Freshman
Emilee Woodall made four saves for the Tigers.
The Tigers took the lead early in the game when
Sam Zelenack scored unassisted in the sixth minute.
Appalachian State evened the score in the 18th minute when
Hanna French scored on a pass from
Laura Malinoski.
The Mountaineers'
Taylor Cimbalist scored the deciding goal unassisted in the 28th minute of the second half.
Woodall made one first-half save as the Tigers kept Appalachian State to only six shots in the first half. The Tigers recorded six first-half shots.
The second half proved to be scoreless for both teams. Towson recorded six second-half for a game total of 12 shots. Appalachian State had six second-half shots to finish the game with 12 shots as well.
Junior
Heather Jenney led the Tigers in shots with three. Six other Tigers recorded shots in the game.
Woodall had three second-half saves for a total of four saves in the game.
Christina Ceppi made six saves to earn the win for the Mountaineers.
Towson returns to action on Friday, October 24th as they host Hofstra at 6 p.m.
