PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Pittsburgh Steelers signed former Towson football standout Jordan Dangerfield to their practice squad on Wednesday.
Dangerfield, who performed well for the Steelers this preseason, has been playing for the Brooklyn Bolts in the FXFL. He saw action in three preseason games in 2014, logging seven tackles (six solo) for the Steelers.
The 5-11, 200 pound Dangerfield originally signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted rookie back in April 2013.
A three-year starter, second-team All-American and team captain for the Tigers, Dangerfield earned All-CAA First Team honors twice at Towson. Despite missing two games in 2011 due to injury, Dangerfield led the Tigers in tackles with 93 and intercepted two passes, forced two fumbles and recovered two fumbles.
Dangerfield started all 10 games he played in 2012. He made 69 tackles and led the team with six pass breakups during his senior season.
Towson football now has three former players on NFL rosters. Two-time pro bowler Jermon Bushrod will lead the Chicago Bears into Green Bay tonight, while Cleveland Brown running back Terrance West scored his fourth touchdown of the year in a win over Cincinnati on Thursday.
