Tigers Visit Loyola Thursday

OPENING TIP: Towson faces its second straight Patriot League opponent as the Tigers head up Charles Street to face Loyola on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: The Tigers renew their second longest non-conference rivalry when they make the short trip down Charles Street to take on Loyola. Thursday's game will be 41st all-time meeting between the Tigers and Greyhounds. Only UMBC has faced the Tigers more times (49). Towson leads the match-up 27-13 following a 67-46 win last year in SECU Arena. In that game, Dominique Johnson led all players with 20 points while Nai Brown had 15 points for Loyola.

AGAINST IN-STATE OPPONENTS: The Tigers are playing their third game of four against a team from the state of Maryland Thursday. Towson has already picked up a 59-54 win over UMBC and suffered a tough 55-51 loss to Navy this season. Last season, Towson went 3-3 against teams from Maryland. That included victories over UMBC, Loyola and Coppin State. In the last five plus years, Towson is 18-12 against in-state teams.

AGAINST THE PATRIOT LEAGUE: Thursday's game is the second straight for the Tigers against an opponent from the Patriot League. Towson battled hard at Navy before suffering a heartbreaking 55-51 loss on Tuesday night. All-time Towson is 84-74 against members of the Patriot League. Towson has recorded its most wins against a Patriot League team against Loyola (27). Towson also has 16 wins over Bucknell and 12 versus Navy.

TWENTY SOMETHING: Redshirt senior forward LaTorri Hines-Allen has been piling up the points for the Tigers. Hines-Allen led all scorers with 21 points in Tuesday's contest at Navy. She has now scored 20 or more points in back-to-back games and three times this season. Hines-Allen is tied for second in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) with three games of 20 or more points.

WELCOME TO THE BLOCK PARTY: Towson comes into play this week ranked third the CAA in blocked shots per game (3.7 per game). The Tigers had five blocks in the win at UMBC and have now blocked at least three shots in four of their seven games this season. The Tigers blocked a season-high nine shots against Rider. It was the most blocks in a game since the Tigers blocked 10 against Hofstra during the 2012-13 season. Eight Tigers have blocked at least one shot so far this season. That group is led by redshirt senior forward LaTorri Hines-Allen, who has nine. Senior guard Ciara Webb, senior forward Camille Alberson and freshman center Daijha Thomas are tied for second on the team with four blocks each.

MISS ASSIST: Towson freshman guard Breonn Hughey has proven through the first seven games to be a strong leader at the point. Hughey has dished out 39 assists in those contests for the Tigers. She is third in the CAA while averaging 5.6 assists per game. She is also fourth in the CAA for assist to turnover ratio. Hughey is averaging 5.6 assists to just 2.4 turnovers per game for a ratio of 2.3. Hughey ranks 37th in the nation for assists per game entering play this week and 41st for assist to turnover ratio.

UP NEXT: Towson travels to College Park to take on No. 15/10 Maryland at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7.
