Tigers Host George Washington in New Year's Eve Matinee

OPENING TIP: The Towson women's basketball team closes out 2014 and the non-conference portion of its schedule when it hosts George Washington on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 1 p.m. in SECU Arena. One lucky fan will have a chance to shoot for $10,000 at a timeout during the game.

SERIES HISTORY: The Tigers welcome George Washington to SECU Arena to close out 2014 and the non-conference portion of their schedule. George Washington leads the all-time series 7-2. However, the Tigers secured the win last year, 68-67 as Tanisha McTiller hit a free throw in the final five seconds to secure the victory.

I'M HONORED: Freshman guard Breonn Hughey earned Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week honors on Monday. Hughey had 11 points and 10 assists for her first career double-double in the win over George Mason. She is the first Tiger to earn rookie of the week accolades since Dominique Johnson did so in Feb. of 2013.

SUNNY AND 70: The Tigers scored 72 points in Sunday's win over George Mason. It was a season-high points scored for the Tigers. Since the start of the 2010-11 season the Tigers are 11-1 when they score 70 or more points in a game.

DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE: Towson got a pair of double-double performances in Sunday's win over George Mason. Redshirt senior forward LaTorri Hines-Allen finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds. It was Hines-Allen's team-leading fifth double-double of the year. Hines-Allen is tied for the CAA lead in double-doubles. Towson has the CAA leader in double-doubles on both the women's and men's side as John Davis has six double-doubles for the Tiger men. Freshman guard Breonn Hughey had 11 points and 10 assists for her first career double-double. Hughey is the first Tiger point guard to record a double-double since Krystal Parnell had 19 points and 10 assists against George Mason during the 2010-11 season.

BALANCED ATTACK: Towson showed off a balanced attack in Sunday's win over George Mason. Eight of the 11 Tigers who appeared in the game scored at least two points.
Four Tigers scored in double figures for the first time this season. Redshirt senior forward LaTorri Hines-Allen led the way with 23 points. Senior guard Ciara Webb had a season-high 12 points while junior guard Dominique Johnson and freshman guard Breonn Hughey each had 11 points. The Tigers are 3-0 under Head Coach Niki Reid Geckeler when they have four players score in double figures in the same game.

DISHING OUT THE HELPERS: Towson recorded a season-high 17 assists in the win over George Mason. It was the most assists in a single-game by the Tigers since they recorded 17 against Hofstra on Jan. 6, 2011. Four Tigers recorded at least one assist in the win over the Patriots. That group was led by freshman guard Breonn Hughey who had a career-high 10 helpers while redshirt senior forward LaTorri Hines-Allen had a career-high four assists.

UP NEXT: The Tigers are back in action on Sunday, Jan. 4 when CAA play begins. Towson will face a tough challenge as it travels to defending champion James Madison for a 2 p.m. game.
