WASHINGTON, D.C. – A rough-shooting first half proved to be too tough for Towson to overcome as the Tigers saw their seven-game winning streak come to an end with a 78-46 loss to Georgetown Sunday afternoon in the BB&T Classic.
The Tigers (7-2) struggled from the floor in the first half as they went just 5-of-21 (.238), including missing all nine three-point attempts. The Hoyas (5-2) took advantage and went on a 12-2 run midway through the first half to take an 18-point lead.
The second half was a different story for the Tigers as they were able to run their offense and shoot better from the floor. Towson shot 56.5% (13-of-23) in the second half.
Freshman
Byron Hawkins had one of his best halves of the season in his return home. He went 4-of-7 from the floor, including a steal and breakaway layup, for nine points in the half.
Sophomore
John Davis continued his strong start to the season as he recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Four McGlynn was also in double figures with 10 points.
The Tigers return to the court Wednesday as they travel to face Temple. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN3.
