TOWSON, Md. - The 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Track and Field championship meet will feature three student-athletes from Towson University.
The meet, which begins Friday, March 7 at Boston University, will feature Tiger juniors Elizabeth Tauber (5,000-meter run) and Kara Bucaro (1,000-meter run), and sophomore polevaulter Maggie Rampolla.
However, the events the Tigers compete in do not start until Saturday.
Tauber, the school record-holder in both the indoor and outdoor 5,000-meter run, will compete in the event after running a time of 17:22.67 at the Lafayette-Rider Winter Games in February.
"With Elizabeth, she's been consistent and has been hitting her marks," Towson Head Coach Roger Erricker said.
Bucaro is on a bit of a roll after an outstanding performance at the George Mason Last Chance Meet last weekend. She timed 2:56.74, which converts to 2:54.84 for timing purposes, and won the event by over a second.
"With Kara, it was wonderful to see her get back to where she was as an outstanding runner, " Erricker said. "She ran a fantastic race on Sunday. It's one of those races as a coach you will always remember.
Rampolla is the youngest of the Tiger entrants. But the sophomore already holds a school record with her 12' 6.00" height set earlier this year, and could be in line to score at the ECACs.
"Maggie has taken it up a notch and keeps improving," Erricker commented. "With her, if she vaults what she has been doing, she more than likely will score for us."
