TOWSON, Md. — With the 2021-22 indoor season right around the corner, Towson women's track and field head coach Mike Jackson has announced the slates for the both the indoor and outdoor campaigns.
The Tigers will compete in 12 meets during the indoor season followed by 17 events in the outdoor portion of the schedule.
"We are excited and look forward to a full season of competition," Jackson said. "We've got a great staff, great roster andare looking forward to achieving many of our goals, which we hope will manifest into championship wins!"
Indoor
Towson will start off the 2021-22 indoor season at Bucknell for the Bison Opener from Dec. 3-4. After a month hiatus, the team will travel to the Father Diamond Invitational hosted by George Mason on Saturday, Jan. 8. Shortly after, the Tigers will return to the Commonwealth for the VMI Team Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 15.
On Jan. 21, the squad will then compete in the two-day Penn State National. From there, Towson will return to George Mason for the Patriot Games on Saturday, Jan. 29.
To kick things off in the month of February, the Tigers will once again return to Blacksburg, Virginia for the Virginia Tech Elite Meet. The two-day event will begin on Feb. 4 and end the following day. The squad will split its time in Virginia, with the Liberty Open, also scheduled for Feb. 5.
The team will then travel north to New York for the Rutgers Open, which will take place from Feb. 11 to the 12. On Feb. 18, Towson will head back to State College, Pennsylvania for the Penn State Tune-Up.
After some time off, the Tigers will begin the championship portion of their schedule, first at the USA Indoor Track & Field Championships. The two-day event will commence on Fed. 25 in Spokane, Washington.
March 4 through 6, Towson will compete in the ECAC Division I Indoor Championships held in Boston. Finally, to end the indoor season, those who qualify will travel to Birmingham, Alabama for the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships. The meet will take place from Match 11-12.
Outdoor
Just 14 short days after the completion of the indoor season, Towson will pick right back up with the Fred Hardy Invitational and USF Bulls Invitational to kick off the 2022 outdoor season. The Fred Hardy Invitational, hosted by the University of Richmond, and the USF Bulls Invitational, hosted by South Florida, will both take place from March 18 to 19.
From March 25 to 26, the team will once again split up between two meets, the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and the Raleigh Relays. On March 26, some of the team will also go to the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational.
The Tigers will host their highly anticipated home meet, the Towson Invitational, at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium from April 1 to 2. From April 8-9, the Tigers will head to North Carolina A&T for the Aggie Invitational. Also on April 9, select members of the squad will make their third trip to George Mason, between the indoor and outdoor seasons, for the Mason Spring Invitational.
Towson also return to Bucknell, where it started its indoor slate, on April 15 and 16 for the Bison Outdoor Classic. The following weekend, the team will disperse to compete in three different meets including the Virginia Challenge (April 22-23), Morgan State Legacy meet in Greensboro, North Carolina (April 23) and the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational (April 23).
On April 28, those who qualify will travel to Philadelphia for the esteemed Penn Relays. The two-day meet with end on April 29.
Getting things started in May, the Tigers will head back to Boston but this time for the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships from May 6 to 7. The team will continue right on to the ECAC Division I Outdoor Championships which will take place May 13 through May 15. The location of that meet has yet to be determined.
Those who meet the standard will continue onto the NCAA East Preliminary Round (May 25-28) in Bloomington, Indiana. Finally, to finish the outdoor season, select student-athletes will go to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The four-day season finale will take place in Eugene, Oregon from June 6 to the 12.
