SERIES HISTORY: The Tigers face Northeastern for the first time this season as the Huskies visit SECU Arena Thursday. Towson holds a 15-14 edge in the all-time series and have won three straight against the Huskies. The Tigers swept the season series last year. They posted a thrilling 66-65 win in SECU on
Dominique Johnson's three-pointer at the buzzer. When the two teams met in Boston in February, Towson claimed a 67-62 win behind 33 points and 12 rebounds from
Tanisha McTiller.
REACHING THE 1,000 POINT CLUB: Redshirt senior forward
LaTorri Hines-Allen had 12 points against Elon which gave her 335 for the season. Hines-Allen now has 757 points in 48 games as Tiger. Combined with the 239 points she scored at Virginia Tech, Hines-Allen has 996 career points. She needs four more points to reach 1,000 for her career.
MISS ASSIST: Junior guard
Dominique Johnson had a game-high six assists in Sunday's contest at Elon. Johnson has recorded five or more assists in four of the six Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) games this season. That includes a season-high eight assists against William & Mary. She has dished out 30 of her 50 assists this season in CAA play. Johnson ranks third in CAA only games with an average of 5.0 assists per game. Overall on the season, she is 12th in the CAA while averaging 2.8 assists per game.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY COACH!: Towson Head Coach
Niki Reid Geckeler is celebrating her birthday today. The Tigers will be looking to present their second-year leader with a victory for her birthday. Last year, the Tigers played the day after Coach Reid Geckeler's birthday and posted a 64-60 win at College of Charleston.
PROTECT THIS HOUSE: The Tigers return home Thursday looking to add to their win total in SECU Arena. Four of the Tigers' seven wins have come at home this season.
Towson has six home games remaining this season including Thursday's contest. This year's squad will be looking to continue the strong performance at home. The Tigers have won at least eight home games in each of the last three seasons.
DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE: Redshirt senior forward
LaTorri Hines-Allen continues to post double-double performances for the Tigers. Hines-Alllen has recorded a double-double in four of the first six CAA games. Overall, Hines-Allen has nine double-doubles this year. She leads the team and the CAA in that category. As of Wednesday morning, the Tigers had the CAA leader in double-doubles on both the women's and the men's side of the ball (Hines-Allen - nine and
John Davis - eight). Hines-Allen ranks 19th in the nation for double-doubles this season.
UP NEXT: Towson takes to the road to visit UNC Wilmington (Jan. 25) and Delaware (Jan. 29) before returning home to host College of Charleston on Feb. 1.
