HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Despite a career-high 15 saves by goalkeeper
Emilee Woodall, Hofstra defeated the Tigers 9-0 on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED- Hofstra (11-4, 1-1 CAA) took a dominating 5-0 lead in the first half.
- The Pride's Simca Schoen got Hofstra on the board in the 13th minute, scoring twice in 42 seconds.
- Hofstra added three goals in three minutes. Samantha Schlegel scored in the 25th and 27th minute. The Pride scored their final goal of the first half in the 28th minute from Stella Schoen.
- Towson (2-11, 0-3 CAA) were active defensively in the first half as Stacey Mackintosh and Erika McKay both recorded defensive saves.
- The Pride outscored the Tigers 23-3 in the first half. Towson goalkeeper Emilee Woodall made 12 first-half saves. Both teams had four penalty corner opportunities with only the Pride being able to convert on a chance.
- Hofstra added four goals in the second half to secure the 9-0 win over the Tigers. The Pride's Charlotte Loehr scored in the 40th minute. Five minutes later, Simca Schoen tallied her third of the game. Madison Sauve scored three minutes later followed by Madison Reed in the 51st minute.
- The Pride outshot the Tigers 21-0 in the second half to finish the game with a 44-3 shot advantage. Hofstra was awarded four second-half penalty corner opportunities but were unable to capitalize on any.
- Woodall made three second-half saves to finish the game with 15 saves, a career-high.
- Sophomore Megan Boyle came in on relief action for the final 18:18.
- The Pride's Lauren Saltus made two saves for the win.
Towson will return to action for a non-conference game at La Salle on October 18. The Tigers and Explorers will face off at 12 p.m. at DeVincent Field.
