TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University volleyball team hit .369 en route to a 3-0 win over James Madison University in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action on "Senior Night" in SECU Arena. The win allowed the Tigers (25-5, 12-4 CAA) to avenge an early season loss to the Dukes (22-7, 12-4 CAA) and clinched a share of the CAA regular season title for the Tigers.

HOW IT HAPPENED- The first set was a back-and-forth affair early that featured six ties and three lead changes. Towson and James Madison were tied at 10-10 before the Tigers used a 5-1 run to take a 15-11 lead. Freshman Jocelyn Kuilan had a kill and a service ace during that scoring stretch. James Madison called timeout and following the break, Towson scored five of the next eight points and took a 20-14 advantage. That forced the Dukes to use their second timeout of the set. Sophomore Julymar Otero had a pair of kills during that stretch. The two teams traded points before a service error by the Dukes gave Towson a 25-20 first set win.
- Towson hit a blistering .469 in the set while James Madison hit .391. Six Tigers recorded at least two kills in the set and that group was led by Kuilan who had five kills and no errors on seven attempts.
- A kill from junior Jessica Lewis gave Towson a 6-3 advantage in the second set. The two squads battled back-and-forth before back-to-back kills from Kuilan pushed the Towson lead to 12-8. James Madison called timeout and got a pair of kills from Janey Goodman after the break. However, the Tigers responded with a pair of kills from Lewis to take a 14-10 lead. A block from Lewis and junior Lindsay Flaherty pushed the Towson lead to 22-15. Back-to-back kills from redshirt junior Candace Steadman gave Towson a 25-19 second set win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
- Towson continued its hot hitting as the Tigers posted a .472 hitting percentage while James Madison hit .375. Kuilan contributed five more kills for the Tigers while Lewis, Steadman and senior Haley Pa'akaula all had four kills.
- The Tigers and Dukes battled through five ties and one lead change in the third set. A block from Pa'akaula and Flaherty gave Towson a 9-7 lead and James Madison called timeout. A 3-1 run helped Towson extend the advantage to 12-8. The Tigers pushed their lead to 18-4 on a kill from Pa'akaula. A 7-4 run allowed the Dukes to pull to within one, 22-21. Bryn Recker had three kills during that stretch. Kills from Flaherty and Lewis gave Towson a 24-22 edge. James Madison got a kill from Goodman to pull to within one again, 24-23. Lewis gave Towson a 25-23 set win and victory in the match with her kill on the next play.
- Towson hit .241 in the set while James Madison posted a .256 clip. Kuilan had six kills in the set while redshirt senior Aimee Schubert dished out 10 assists while redshirt freshman Anna Holehouse contributed 10 digs.
QUOTABLE- "We told the girls pregame that with everything that could affect us tonight (Senior Night, CAA seedings, etc.), we had to keep our emotions in check," said Towson head coach Don Metil. "I thought the girls composed themselves well and competed well throughout tonight. We knew that JMU would use a spread block and we could use the middle and did it well until they moved things around. Jocelyn hit .667 and that was huge."
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE- Towson clinched a share of the CAA regular season title with the win. The Tigers will have to wait until Sunday to have their seeding for the upcoming CAA Tournament. If Hofstra beats William & Mary on Sunday, the Tigers will be the number two seed and travel to James Madison. If Hofstra loses to William & Mary on Sunday, the Tigers would be the number one seed and host the CAA Tournament.
- Towson honored its seniors, Kyana Miller, Sarah Smith, Schubert and Pa'akaula before the match.
- Kuilan posted 16 kills to lead the Towson attack. She had no errors in 24 attempts and finished the match hitting .667. The 16 kills gives her 401 for the season, she is 11th player in school history to go over 400 kills in a single-season.
- Pa'akaula had 12 kills while hitting .423 and added five digs.
- Holehouse registered a match-high 16 digs while Schubert had 29 assists and nine digs.
