Tigers Travel to George Mason Tuesday Night

ON THE ROAD AGAIN: The Tiger women's basketball team gets back to work as it travels to former Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) foe, George Mason on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. Towson Sports Network's Ben Rosenbaum and Ian Jett will be on the air starting at 6:40 p.m. to call the game from Eaglebank Arena.

SERIES HISTORY: The Tigers resume their series with former Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) foe George Mason Tuesday. Tomorrrow's game will be the 29th meeting all-time between the Tigers and the Patriots. George Mason leads the series 17-11. The two teams have alternated wins in each of their last five meetings. Last year when the two teams met in SECU Arena, the Tigers claimed a 72-70 victory. Four Tigers scored in double figures in the win and that group was led by LaTorri Hines-Allen and Breonn Hughey who posted double-doubles in the win.

I'M HONORED: Freshman guard Sianni Martin was named the CAA Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday. Martin made her Tiger debut a successful one as she earned the start and played 33 minutes. She tossed in 18 points to go along with five assists, four steals and two rebounds. Martin is the first Tiger to earn rookie of the week accolades since Breonn Hughey did so last year in December.

FROM BEHIND THE ARC: Towson picked up where it left off last season in the opener, shooting the ball well from behind the arc. The Tigers tied the school record for single-game three-pointers as they connected on 12 triples (originally set against Northeastern on Jan. 22 of last year). Senior Dominique Johnson led the way as she connected on seven three-pointers. That was one off the school record for three-pointers in a single-game which Johnson holds. Three other Tigers hit at least one three-pointer in that game, including freshman guard Sianni Martin and junior guard Raven Bankston, who each had two three-pointers.

BANGING THE BOARDS: Sophomore center Daijha Thomas earned the start at Rider and made the most of her time on the boards. Despite being limited to just five minutes in the first half due to foul trouble, Thomas pulled down four rebounds. In the second half, she played 16 minutes and pulled down six rebounds for a total of 10 in the game. Thomas recorded double digit rebounds for the first time in her career.

TWENTY-TWENTY VISION: Senior guard Dominique Johnson delivered a game-high 22 points in the opener at Rider. It was Johnson's 10th career game with 20 or more points scored. Johnson has now scored in double figures in all four of her season openers and posted 20+ points in a season opener for the second straight year (32 points in the 2014-15 season opener at Penn State).

LENDING A HELPING HAND: The Tigers posted 14 assists in the season opener at Rider. That was the most assists by the Tigers since they had 16 against Drexel on Feb. 15 of last season. Six Tigers recorded at least one assist in the season opener. That group was led by freshman guard Sianni Martin (5) and sophomore guard Breonn Hughey (4). Senior guard Dominique Johnson who had two assists in the opener, now has 263 career assists. She needs one more assist to move into the top 10 for career assists at Towson.

UP NEXT: Towson returns home to open its 2015-16 home slate against Coppin State on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 4 p.m.
