Tigers Visit Hofstra on Thursday

OPENING TIP: The Towson women's basketball team hits the road to visit Hofstra on Thursday, Feb. 19. The opening tip from Hempstead, N.Y. is set for 7 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: The Tigers and Pride resume a series that has been evenly matched Thursday. Hofstra's 58-42 win when the two schools met in January tied the series at 29-29. The Pride's win in early January snapped a three-game win streak in the series for the Tigers. In that contest, Elo Edeferioka led Hofstra with 17 points and nine rebounds while senior guard Ciara Webb had 12 points for the Tigers.

DOMO GOES DEEP: Junior guard Dominique Johnson knocked down a pair of three-pointers in Sunday's contest against Drexel. That gave her 59 three-pointers this season and 144 for her career. She currently ranks fifth for three-pointers in a single-season and needs two more to move into the top three. Tara Rottet holds the school record for single-season threes with 73. Johnson's second three-pointer against Drexel moved her into second place on the career three-pointers list at Towson. The school record for career three-pointers is 190 set by Mia Chapman.

DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE: The Tigers had a pair of players record a double-double in Sunday's contest against Drexel. Redshirt senior forward LaTorri Hines-Allen had 23 points and 12 rebounds against the Dragons for a double-double. Senior guard Ciara Webb finished with 13 points and a career-high 12 rebounds versus Drexel. Hines-Alllen has recorded a double-double in seven of the 14 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) games. Overall, Hines-Allen has 12 double-doubles this year. She leads the team and the CAA in that category. Webb's double-double was the first of her career. The Tigers have 15 double-double performances this season (Hines-Allen-12, freshman guard Breonn Hughey-1, senior guard Markell Smith-1 and Webb-1).

MISS ASSIST: Freshman guard Breonn Hughey had 10 assists for the Tigers versus Drexel on Sunday. Hughey has 120 assists in 24 games for the Tigers this season.
She has five or more assists in 15 games this year. Hughey dished out a a season-high 10 helpers against George Mason in December. She then matched that mark with her performance against Drexel. It is the first time since Betty Lou Bischof in 1985 that a Tiger had 10 or more assists in two games in the same season. Hughey currently ranks second in the CAA in assists per game (5.0) and second in assist to turnover ratio (2.0).

UP NEXT: Towson returns home to host UNC Wilmington on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. The Tigers will honor their six seniors prior to the start of the game.

The 2015 CAA Women's Basketball Championship will be held March 12-15 at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md. Call 1-855-TU-TIGER for your tickets.
