OPENING TIP: The Tiger women's basketball team plays its final home game of the season as UNC Wilmington visits SECU Arena on Sunday, Feb. 22 for a 2 p.m. tip.
SUNDAY HAPPENINGS: There will be plenty of activity going on in SECU in addition to the game on Sunday. At 1:45 p.m., the Tigers will honor their six seniors playing in their final home game. That group includes
LaTorri Hines-Allen,
Ciara Webb,
Camille Alberson,
Nicole Hamilton-Carter,
Markell Smith and
Alexandra Silva. In addition the Tigers kick off the the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Food Drive and any fan bringing a can good will receive a free ticket. It's a "Blackout" game and all fans are encouraged to wear black. The Tigers will also welcome back their alumni for the contest.
SERIES HISTORY: UNC Wilmington leads the all-time series with the Tigers, 16-9. The Seahawks have won three straight following a 71-63 victory when the two squads met in January.
Shatia Cole led all scorers with 25 points, six rebounds and six assists in that game.
LaTorri Hines-Allen had 21 points and 11 rebounds in that contest for the Tigers. Towson's last win in the series came during the 2012-13 season in Wilmington.
PILING UP THE POINTS: Redshirt senior forward
LaTorri Hines-Allen had 11 points against Hofstra which gave her 465 for the season. She currently ranks 10th in single-season history for points scored at Towson.
DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE: The Tigers had a pair of players record a double-double in last Sunday's contest against Drexel. Redshirt senior forward
LaTorri Hines-Allen had 23 points and 12 rebounds against the Dragons for a double-double. Senior guard
Ciara Webb finished with 13 points and a career-high 12 rebounds versus Drexel. Hines-Alllen has recorded a double-double in seven of the 15 CAA games. Overall, Hines-Allen has 12 double-doubles this year. She leads the team and the CAA in that category. Webb's double-double was the first of her career. Markell Smith-1 and Webb-1).
DOMO GOES DEEP: Junior guard
Dominique Johnson knocked down a three-pointer against Hofstra on Thursday night. That gave her 60 three-pointers this season and 145 for her career. She currently ranks tied for fourth for three-pointers in a single-season and needs one more to move into the top three.
Tara Rottet holds the school record for single-season threes with 73. Johnson's second three-pointer against Drexel last Sunday moved her into second place on the career three-pointers list at Towson. The school record for career three-pointers is 190 set by
Mia Chapman.
UP NEXT: The Tigers close out the regular season with visits to Drexel (March 1) and William & Mary (March 4). The CAA Tournament begins on March 12 at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md.
