Late Run Lifts Delaware Over Tigers

TOWSON, Md. – In a game that was tight throughout, it was Delaware that used an 11-5 run down to the stretch to defeat Towson, 65-60, Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale for both teams.
 
The loss dropped Towson to 12-19 on the season, and 5-13 in conference play.  It marked the 12th time in conference action that the Tigers have been involved in a game decided by five points or less.
 
The final 10:28 of the game featured three ties and three lead changes.  With the game tied 47-47 with 8:18 to play, Four McGlynn knocked down back-to-back three pointers to give Towson a 53-47 lead. 
 
The Blue Hens (10-19, 9-9 CAA) would cut the led to one before Anthony Mosley stole the ball at midcourt and passed away to Cazmon Hayes for the layup and the lead.
 
The lead would grow to five points before McGlynn scored to cut the deficit to three.  On the next possession, Towson played tough defense the entire shot clock, but was called for a fall right before the buzzer.  Kory Holden knocked down both free throws.
 
The Tigers came down a missed a pair of shots and were forced to foul.  After UD made one-of-two, McGlynn hit his third three-pointer of the half to make it 63-60.  The Blue Hens iced the game with a pair of free throws late.
 
Mike Morsell got the offense going to start the game as he scored the first five points for the Tigers.  Walter Foster joined in and knocked down his first six shots of the game.  Foster's jumper with 3:02 left in the half gave Towson a one-point lead.
 
Maurice Jeffers would score down low in the final minute to give UD a four-point lead before Byron Hawkins drained a three right before the buzzer to send the teams into the locker room with the Blue Hens leading 31-30.
 
Foster led two Tigers with double-doubles with 12 points and 11 rebounds.  John Davis added 11 points and 11 rebounds.  Morsell and McGlynn were also in double figures with 11 points each.
 
The Tigers will open CAA Tournament action March 6 at 6 p.m. against Elon.  The Tournament will be played at Royal Farms Arena in downtown Baltimore.
