TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's tennis team looks for its first dual match win of the spring season this weekend when it travels to play University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) and Salisbury University on Sunday, Feb. 8. The Tigers will take on UMES at noon in a neutral site match before playing the host Seagulls at 3 p.m.
Â
The Tigers (1-2) have been in action twice since opening their spring slate. They dropped a tough 5-2 loss to Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) foe James Madison to open the spring schedule and were narrowly defeated at George Washington last weekend by a score of 4-3.
Â
The freshmen duo of
Nicole Shakhnazarova and
Lucy Williams have been excellent in doubles play this spring. The pairing has won both of their matches, defeating James Madison 6-4 and George Washington 6-1.

Sarah Khan after dropping the first set 1-6. Shakhnazarova won the second set 6-4 to force the third set tiebreaker and won that 6-4. She defeated George Washington's
Taylor Nederlander 6-0, 6-2 to improve her record to 3-0 in dual match singles play this season.
Â
The Tigers will travel to West Virginia University for an afternoon match at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13. They will stay to play California University of Pennsylvania in a neutral site match on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 4 p.m.
