SALISBURY, Md. – The Towson University women's tennis team improved to 4-2 after victories over University of Maryland Eastern Shore, 7-0, and Salisbury, 9-0, on Sunday afternoon.
 
"The girls came out focused today and that showed in the results from today," Head Coach Doug Neagle said. "I'm really proud of the way the girls came out in the singles play. It was a great team effort by everyone involved."
 
Sophie Lesage, A.J. Gomer, Renate van Oorschodt and Barbora Vasilkova all earned singles victories in both matches for the Tigers. All of Towson's singles wins on the day came in straight sets.
 
van Oorschodt and Gomer partnered for two doubles victories on the day, defeating UMES's Petra Jerabkova and Aleksandra Manolova by a score of 6-0. The duo continued their success against Salisbury's Claudia Lohn and Charlotte Walker.
 
The doubles' pairing of Lucy Williams and Nicole Shakhnazarova played in one of the Tigers' most exciting matches of the day as they defeated Salisbury's Natalie Savage and Katie Youlios by a final score of 9-8 (7-4).
 
Towson will travel to West Virginia University on Friday, Feb. 13 for a 4 p.m. match before continuing in action on Saturday against California University of Pennsylvania in a neutral site match at 4 p.m.
