BALTIMORE, Md. – The Towson University women's tennis team swept all six singles matches in straight sets to defeat Loyola by a perfect score of 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon. Towson improved to 9-8 and 1-2 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play with the non-conference win over the Greyhounds.
 
"We were really proud of Ayana Dow for stepping back into singles play for the first time since September and getting a win," Head Coach Doug Neagle said. "She paired with Lucy Williams again for a doubles win today.
 
"Sophie Lesage is really coming into her own," Neagle continued. "She's play very confidently right now."
 
The Tigers won two of the doubles matches for the opening doubles point. Towson switched up the pairings in doubles play with the return of Dow to the lineups. Williams who has often partnered with Nicole Shakhnazarova this season, teamed with Dow for the No. 2 doubles win. Williams and Dow defeated the Greyhounds' Megan Hahn and Olivia Ott 8-3.
 
Cailey Easdale and A.J. Gomer earned the Tigers' second doubles win in the No. 3 spot with a 8-7(4) victory over Loyola's Emily Hughes and Haleigh Morgus. The Tiger duo held strong against the Greyhounds pair to force a tiebreaking point and secure the win.
 
Shaknazarova earned her 17th singles victory of the season over Hahn in the top singles spot. She led the Tigers' singles effort, winning by a final score of 6-1, 6-4.
 
Gomer earned her second win of the day over Morgus, this time at No. 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-4 final score.
 
Dow faced Ott again in singles play, defeating her 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 6 spot.
 
Lesage surrendered the fewest points in singles as she won against Loyola's Amanda Lacianao 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3.
 
The Tigers were originially scheduled to travel to Bucknell on Tuesday, March 31 but their afternoon matchup has been postponed due to inclement weather expected in the area. .
