BEL AIR, Md. – The Towson baseball team closed out its three-game series against Bryant with a 7-0 defeat Monday afternoon. The Tigers handed the Bulldogs a 12-11 defeat in the first game of the doubleheader.
Bryant (2-7) took advantage of three Towson errors in the first inning to push across four runs without the benefit of a base hit.
The Tigers (1-9) offense was kept quiet all game by the pitching performance of James Karinchak (1-2). He picked up the victory after allowing just three hits and striking out 10 in seven-inning complete game.
Spencer Sutton continued his hot day at the plate as he went 2-for-3 with a double. Over the two games Monday, Sutton went 6-for-7 with a pair of doubles, a home run and five RBIs.
Lee Lawler (0-2) took the loss after giving up four runs, two earned, in one inning of work.
Freshman left hander
David Marriggi was very effective in his two innings of work. He allowed just one hit and struck out three over two innings.
The Tigers return to the diamond March 11 as they travel to face Navy. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
