NEWARK, Del. – The Towson University softball team split a doubleheader with Delaware on Friday afternoon, winning game one 5-2 before dropping game two 4-0.

The Tigers are now 33-20 and 9-11 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play.

Towson got on the board early in the game, scoring all five of its runs over the first three innings.
Olivia Yarbrough led off of the game with a walk before coming on back-to-back singles by
Brook Miko and
Holiday Cahill.
Missy McCormick followed with a double to left center that would score Miko.

The Tigers added a run in the second inning as Cahill brought home
Daria Edwards on a sacrifice fly. Edwards used a single in the third to score
Shelby Stracher before coming home when Miko was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Six different Tigers had hits during the game, led by Cahill, McCormick and Edwards who had two each. Edwards had a game-high two runs.

McCormick (18-6) threw a complete game for Towson, giving up just two runs and striking out seven batters.

The Blue Hens ran through three pitchers as Carolyn Szymanski (17-13) picked up the loss. She gave up five runs and six hits over the first 2.2 innings. Jordan Cargile allowed three hits over 2.1 innings of relief action before Kiersten Coffman came in for the final two frames and struck out three Tigers.

Delaware picked up a 4-0 victory in the second game of the day. The Blue Hens solved the Tigers' offense, holding Towson to just three hits and no runs.

The Blue Hens scored twice in the second inning as Mariah Kondravy led off with a homer to left field. Shelby Jones scored an unearned run on a double by Giovanna Kolofer. Delaware added another run in the third when Kondravy singled to bring home Leanna Gearhart. Kondravy would add another home run to her day in the sixth inning for the Blue Hen's fifth and final run of the game.

The Tigers had their best scoring chance of the game in the third inning as Yarbrough led off with a single. She moved to third base as
Kendyl Scott reached on an error. The Blue Hens used three straight outs to strand the Tigers with two runners on.

Coffman (4-3) gave up just three hits to earn the complete game shutout. She tallied four strikeouts and walked just one batter.

Megan Dejter (9-12) allowed four runs (three earned) and seven hits over 5.0 innings pitched.
Ambar Hickman gave up just one hit in 1.0 inning of relief action.

The Tigers and Blue Hens will conclude regular season play with a single game on Saturday, May 2 at 1 p.m.
