TOWSON, Md. – Senior
Peter Bowles saw his home career come to an end in memorable fashion as the shortstop his a three-run home run to left field in Towson's, 16-6, loss to Northeastern Sunday afternoon.
The Huskies (21-24, 11-7 CAA) jumped out to a quick lead as they collected five hits and took advantage of three Towson errors to score six runs in the top of the first.
The Tigers (15-30-2, 8-13 CAA) got one run back in the home-half of the inning after
Mark Grunberg singled and scored on a
Colin Gimblet fielder's choice.
Richie Blosser started the second inning by reaching on an infield single, extending his hit streak to 15 games. A pair of wild pitches allowed Blosser to come around and score.
Grunberg came calling again in the third inning with a leadoff home run to left field. It was the second home run of the season for the freshman, who homered from both sides of the plate this year.
The Huskies got their offense going again in the fourth as they pushed across three more runs. They would score in each of the final four innings.
Towson got back on the board in the eighth as
A.J. Gallo and
Spencer Sutton singled ahead of Bowles' three-run shot to left.
Lee Lawler (4-5) took the loss after allowing nine runs, six earned, on eight hits over four innings. Aaron Civale (4-2) picked up the victory in relief, allowing three runs on six hits over four innings.
Blosser led the Tigers by going 3-for-4. Grunberg and Gallo each added two hits.
Towson returns to the diamond Tuesday evening as it travels to face UMBC. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
