TOWSON, Md. – The Towson field hockey team earned its first win of the season, defeating Lehigh 4-2 at Johnny Unitas Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers used two goals in the second half and four goals from four different players to down the Mountain Hawks.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Lehigh (1-4) tallied the first goal of the game in the 11th minute as Teresa Carotenuto scored on a pass from Gabby Tofig.
- Towson (1-5) responded four minutes later, tying up the game at one apiece. Junior Morgan Skavdahl tallied her first goal of the season after a scramble in front of the goal sneaked past goalkeeper Julia Ward. Junior Allie Stauffer was credited with the Tigers' assist.
- The Mountain Hawks retook the lead in the 24th minute as Isabel McKeown scored with Tofig tallying her second assist of the game.
- The Tigers once again responded quickly, tying the game less than three minutes later. Senior Kelsey Jenkens scored her first goal of the season on a pass from freshman Devon Hake. '
- Both teams went into halftime tied at two goals apiece. Towson outshot Lehigh 10-9 in the first half as both teams had an equal five penalty corner opportunities. Tiger goalkeeper Megan Boyle made two first-half saves while Mountain Hawks' goalie Ward recorded three saves.
- The Tigers came out quick, scoring six minutes into the second half. A breakaway by junior Sam Zelenack led to Stauffer recording her first goal of her career. Zelenack was credited with the assist on the play.
- Towson added its final goal of the game in the 50th minute as sophomore Taylor Kvilhaug scored on a penalty stroke. The goal was Kvilhaug's first of her career.
- Towson held Lehigh scoreless in the second half with Boyle adding six second-half saves to earn the win. Ward added one second-half save for a game total of three.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE- The goal scored by Jenkens was her first of the season and the second goal of Jenkens' career. She last scored during her freshman year in a 4-3 OT loss to William & Mary on October 7, 2012.
- Skavdahl's goal was her fist of the season and second of her career. She last scored on September 7, 2014 against St. Francis (Pa.).
- The goals scored by Kvilhaug and Stauffer were the first of their careers.
- Kvilhaug recorded a career-high six shots in today's win against Lehigh. Her previous career-high was three shots in a game, recorded this season against St. Francis (Pa.).
- The Tigers now have six players with goals and seven with points this season.
- The four goals scored today was the most in a game since the Tigers defeated #18 American 4-3, exactly a year ago today.

The Tigers head up the road to New Jersey for a pair of games. Rider hosts Towson on Friday, September 18 at 7 p.m. Towson then makes its way to Monmouth for a 12 p.m. matchup on Sunday.
