TOWSON, Md. – Despite a goal from junior 
Sam Zelenack, the Towson field hockey team fell at Monmouth 4-2 on Sunday afternoon.  
HOW IT HAPPENED- Towson (1-7) got on the board quick in the first half as Sam Zelenack recorded her first goal of the season in the fifth minute. Freshman Devon Hake picked up the assist on the play.
 - Monmouth (3-5) responded by scoring twice in less than four minutes. The Hawk's Gab Girardi scored from Cori Allen in the 19th minute. Allen then added her own goal off a penalty corner in the 22nd minute from Casey Hanna.
 - Senior Stacey Mackintosh picked up her third defensive save of the season in the 12th minute, denying Monmouth's Meg Donahue.
 - The Hawks outshot the Tigers 11-1 in the first half with goalkeeper Emilee Woodall making three first-half saves.
 - Monmouth tallied their final goal in the 53rd minute as Alyssa Ercolino scored on a deflection off a penalty corner. Allen recorded the assist.
 - Woodall finished the game with nine saves while Monmouth's Christen Piersanti was forced to only make one save in the second half to earn the win.
 - Senior Heather Jenney and sophomore Sabrina Davis recorded defensive saves for the Tigers in the second-half. Jenney made her defensive save in the 49th minute to deny the Hawk's Teresa Warner. Davis' defensive save came two minutes later, denying Donahue of a scoring opportunity.
 - The Hawks held a 24-3 shot advantage over the Tigers are were awarded 18 penalty corner opportunities to Towson's one. Monmouth capitalized on two of those penalty corners.
 
 The Tigers return home to host Georgetown on Friday, September 25 at 6 p.m. to kick off a four-game home stand.
