TOWSON, Md. – Junior
Morgan Skavdahl scored in overtime to secure the Tigers' second win of the season, a 2-1 victory over Georgetown in Johnny Unitas Stadium on Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED- Towson (2-7) got on the board first as senior Stacey Mackintosh scored unassisted in the 19th minute.
- Georgetown (4-4) responded before the end of the first half to tie the game. The Hoyas' Emily Weinberg scored the tying goal on a penalty corner opportunity in the 23rd minute.
- The first half ended with the teams tied up at one goal apiece. Georgetown outshot the Tigers 8-4 with Tiger goalkeeper Megan Boyle making two first-half saves. The Hoyas' Rachel Skonecki only had to make one save in the first half.
- The Tigers and Hoyas were both scoreless in the second half to send the game into overtime. Georgetown outshot the Tigers 8-1 in the second-half with Boyle adding four saves.
- Towson secured the win in overtime with Skavdahl scoring on a pass from senior Heather Jenney in the 77th minute.
- The Tigers outshot the Hoyas 2-1 in overtime as Skonecki was forced to make a save on a shot by Mackintosh after a penalty corner opportunity.
- The game finished with Georgetown holding a 17-7 shot advantage and a 14-5 lead in penalty corner opportunities.
- Boyle (2-4) tallied six saves in the game while Skonecki finished with two.
The Tigers continue a four-game home stand by hosting Villanova on Sunday, September 27 at 12 p.m.
