Jenney Scores In 5-1 Loss To Lock Haven

TOWSON, Md. – Despite a goal from senior forward Heather Jenney, the Towson field hockey team fell 5-1 to Lock Haven on Sunday afternoon at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Towson (0-4) tallied the game's first goal just under four minutes into the game. Senior Heather Jenney capitalized on a penalty corner and lifted the ball past goalkeeper Paige Stuppy. Sophomore Taylor Kvilhaug was credited with the assist.
  • Seven minutes later, Lock Haven (4-0) used a penalty corner to tie the game at one apiece. Kiersten Cepeda beat goalkeeper Emilee Woodall on a pass from Stephanie Whiteman.
  • Woodall made three first-half saves for the Tigers. Lock Haven outshot Towson 6-3 in the first half and had a 6-3 advantage on penalty corner opportunities.
  • Just under two minutes into the second half, Lock Haven used a hard shot by Tamia Roach at the top of the circle to take a 2-1 lead over the Tigers. Alyscia Smith recorded the assist for the Lady Eagles.
  • Lock Haven's Cepeda scored her second goal of the game 43:11 into the game.
  • The Lady Eagles' Roach used another hard shot from the top of the circle to record her second goal of the game 22 minutes later. Smith once again earned the assist.
  • Lock Haven scored its final goal of the game two minutes later as Colleen McCabe scored unassisted.
  • Woodall made four second-half saves to finish the game with seven saves. Stuppy did not record a save to earn the win for the Lady Eagles.
  • Lock Haven outshot the Tigers 19-4 and had a 13-5 advantage on penalty corner opportunities.
  • Kvilhaugh led the Tiger effort with two shots.
 
The Tigers wrap up a four-game home stand with two games next weekend. Towson hosts Longwood on Friday, September 11 at 6 p.m. and Lehigh on Sunday at 12 p.m.
