Tigers Visit Hofstra on Sunday

A LITTLE SNOW WON'T STOP US: Despite the winter storm that belted the area on Saturday, the Tiger women's basketball team is set to visit Hofstra on Sunday, Jan. 24. The game was scheduled for a 2 p.m. start but since the Hofstra men's game got postponed on Saturday, the Tigers and Pride will now tip things off 30 minutes after the conclusion of the men's game. SERIES HISTORY: Towson renews one of its closest rivalries when it faces the Hofstra Pride. The Tigers and Pride will be meeting for the 60th time. Hofstra holds a slim 30-29 edge in the all-time series after sweeping both match-ups last year. The Tigers will be looking for their first win in the series since the 2013-14 season. Towson had won three straight in the series before the Pride took both meetings last year.

SEEING DOUBLE: Junior guard Raven Bankston led the Tigers in scoring on Friday afternoon against James Madison. Bankston posted 15 points, it was the ninth time this season she has led or tied for the team-lead in scoring. She has scored in double figures 50 times in her career. Heading into play on Sunday, Bankston is tied for second in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) while averaging 16.1 points per game.

I'LL TAKE THAT: Sunday's game will match up two of the top teams in the CAA for steals. Towson currently ranks second in the league while averaging 8.7 steals per game. Hofstra ranks third in the league while averaging 8.2 steals per game.

BUSH BATTLES: Junior forward Brianna Bush had a solid game for the Tigers against James Madison. Bush contributed seven points and led the Tigers with six rebounds. The six rebounds were one off Bush's season-high and marked the second time this season she led the team in rebounding.

MISS ASSIST: The Tigers demonstrated solid ball movement against James Madison on Friday. Towson dished out 11 assists on 22 made baskets. Redshirt sophomore guard Raine Bankston led the way with five assists in the contest. Bankston tied her season and career-high in that category. Junior guard Raven Bankston and sophomore guard Breonn Hughey each dished out two helpers in the game. It was the 11th time this season the Tigers have recorded 10 or more assists in a game. On the season, the Tigers have five players with 20 or more assists. Senior guard Dominique Johnson leads that group with 39 assists and is one of four Tigers with 30 or more helpers on the season.

WE'LL TAKE THE CHARITY: The Tigers have shot the ball well from the foul line since CAA play began. In six CAA contests, the Tigers are shooting 72.8% (75-of-103). During CAA play, junior guard Raven Bankston is 29-for-34 (85.3%) from the charity stripe which ranks third in CAA-only games. The Tigers' success at the line in CAA play has raised their season average at the foul line to 68.7% (211-of-307). Senior guard Dominique Johnson is 41-of-46 (89.1%) from the charity stripe this season. She leads the CAA in that category. Bankston is 73-of-89 (82.0%) from the foul line this year. She ranks fourth in the CAA.

SWIPE SHOW: The Tigers have used their quick hands to their advantage this season. Six Tigers have recorded at least three steals in a game in at least one game this season. Junior guard Raven Bankston leads that group having recorded three or more steals in a game seven times. Bankston has a team-high 42 steals this season and ranks second in the CAA while averaging 2.5 steals per game this year.

UP NEXT: The Tigers head south for a pair of games next weekend. Towson visits UNCW on Friday evening before traveling to the College of Charleston on Sunday afternoon.
