TOWSON, Md. – Five players recorded at least five kills to lead the Towson University volleyball team to a 3-0 win over James Madison University in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play on Friday night. Sophomore
Jocelyn Kuilan led the Tigers as she posted 10 kills while hitting .643 in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Towson got back-to-back kills from sophomore Carola Biver and opened up a 6-3 lead in the first set. The Tigers (17-5, 4-3 CAA) used an 8-0 run to extend their lead to 15-6 and force the Dukes to call timeout. Seven of those eight points came on the service game of redshirt sophomore Anna Holehouse while senior Jessica Lewis had four kills. A kill from Kuilan extended the Tiger advantage to 19-11. The two teams continued to battle before a kill from Lewis gave Towson a 25-18 first set win.
- The two teams battled closely in the second set as a service ace from Sarah Martin gave the Dukes (11-9, 3-4 CAA) a 14-13 lead. Redshirt senior Candace Steadman had a kill on the next play which started a 5-0 run which gave the Tigers an 18-14 advantage. Junior Payton Windell had a pair of kills during that stretch for the Tigers. Towson scored three of the final four points in the second set and secured a 25-16 set win. Lewis had a pair of kills for the Tigers during that key stretch.
- Three straight points including a service ace from Biver allowed the Tigers to take an 11-6 lead in the third set. The two teams traded points as James Madison pulled to within one, 14-13 and Towson called timeout. The Tigers responded out of the break with a 6-2 run which gave the Black and Gold attack a 20-15 lead. Kuilan had a service ace during that scoring stretch. The two teams continued to battle before a Kuilan kill closed out a 25-19 set win and victory in the match. Â

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Towson held the Dukes to a .147 hitting percentage in the match. It was the 17th time this season, the Tigers have held an opponent to an under .200 hitting percentage.
- Towson hit .283 in the match and had six service aces. The Dukes were hindered by seven service errors in the contest.
- The Tigers scored 15 points on the service game of Holehouse, including nine in the first set.
- Lewis led the Tigers with 13 kills and six digs while Kuilan had 10 kills and hit .643.
- Freshman Marrisa Wonders and junior Julymar Otero dished out 16 assists each.
- Holehouse and Biver each had 11 digs.
- Janey Goodman had a match-high 15 kills for the Dukes.
The Tigers are back in action when they host William & Mary on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. in SECU Arena.
