HOW IT HAPPENED
- Towson took a 2-1 lead in the first set as Flaherty combined with sophomore Jocelyn Kuilan for the block. That gave Flaherty 400 blocks for her career.
- The Tigers pushed their lead to 16-9 on back-to-back kills from sophomore Carola Biver and senior Jessica Lewis. A service ace from redshirt sophomore Anna Holehouse extended the Tiger advantage to 19-10. A pair of service aces from Lewis sandwiched around a Tribe (8-13, 2-6 CAA) timeout gave the home team a 23-12 lead. Towson closed out a 25-13 set win on a kill from Kuilan.
- Towson opened the second set by scoring seven of the first 11 points. That run was capped by a kill from redshirt senior Candace Steadman. A kill from Kuilan made it 14-11 in favor of the Black and Gold attack. Towson used a 5-2 run to push its lead to 22-15 and force William & Mary to use its second timeout of the set. Kuilan had a pair of kills during that scoring run. An attack error by the Tribe gave Towson a 25-16 set win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The third set was the closest of the match as the two teams had to battle through eight ties and three lead changes. Towson led 11-7 on a kill from Kuilan before the Tribe used a 10-2 run to take a 17-13 lead. Casey Foote had four kills and a block for the Tribe during that run. Towson responded by scoring eight of the next 10 points and took a 21-19 lead. Steadman had three kills during that run while Lewis added a pair. The two teams traded points before a kill from Lewis gave the home team a 25-22 set win and victory in the match.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Towson hit a blistering .403 in the match. That is a program record for the rally scoring era in a match where Towson took over 115 swings.
- The Tigers continued their dominant defense at the net as William & Mary hit just .181 in the contest. It was the 18th time in 23 matches that the Tigers have held their opponent to a hitting percentage under .200.
- Flaherty finished the match with three blocks as she now has 402 blocks for her career. She is the sixth player in program history to record 400 or more blocks in a match and the first since Alysha Fanning in 2009.
- Lewis, Kuilan, Steadman and Biver combined for 48 kills and hit .418 in the match.
- Lewis led the way with 18 kills and no errors on 37 attack attempts. She finished the match hitting .486 and added eight digs and two service aces.
- Kuilan and Biver each had 11 kills and hit .333. Kuilan posted five digs and a block while Biver contributed 11 digs for her sixth double-double of the year.
- Steadman had eight kills and hit .538 in the match.
- Freshman Marrisa Wonders posted her team leading 14th double-double of the year with 33 assists and 10 digs. Junior Julymar Otero added 14 assists.
- Holehouse led the team with 13 digs, including the 900th of her career.
- Foote led William & Mary with 11 kills and five digs.
The Tigers are back in action as they hit the road for two matches next weekend. First up for Towson is a visit to UNC Wilmington on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.
